When one thinks about a man’s role versus a woman’s, their social norms, their behavior, the way they look, it’s usually based on stereotypes. In the 1990’s the construction and deconstruction of gender stereotypes in comedy television was encountered in shows such as Roseanne, Friends, Seinfeld, Moesha, Home Improvement and countless others. From stereotypes in teenage comedies, to those in family oriented comedies, these programs portray male gender stereotypes, female gender stereotypes and deconstructions of gender in television.
